Frequently asked questions

How do I find the code of a color on my screen?

Press Pick from screen and click the color you want with the eyedropper. This uses the browser's EyeDropper feature and currently works in Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome and Edge. In other browsers the button is hidden and you can choose the color with the box instead.

What is the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?

All three write the same color in a different way. HEX gives a short code (#3b82f6), RGB gives the amount of red, green and blue from 0 to 255, and HSL describes the color as hue, saturation and lightness, which makes adjusting shades easier.

Which formats can I type?

HEX (#3b82f6 or the short #38f), rgb(59, 130, 246), hsl(217, 91%, 60%) and CSS color names such as blue. For a semi-transparent color, rgba(), hsla() or an 8-digit HEX also work.

Are my colors sent anywhere?

No. Everything is computed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
