IBAN validator

Type an IBAN with or without spaces to see at once whether it is valid and which rule fails. Your IBAN never leaves this computer.

Type the 11-digit number. Spaces and dashes are ignored.

This tool only checks the format of the number (length and check digits). It cannot tell you whether the number belongs to a real person. Only the official identity verification service knows that.

    How to use it

    1. Type or paste the IBAN in the box. Spaces and dashes are ignored.
    2. The result updates as you type: the characters, the length for the country and the mod 97 checksum are shown separately.
    3. If it is valid, the IBAN is shown in groups of four. For Turkish IBANs the bank code and, when known, the bank name also appear.

    Frequently asked questions

    How is an IBAN validated?

The first four characters (country code and check digits) are moved to the end, letters are converted to numbers (A=10, B=11 ...) and the remainder of dividing the resulting large number by 97 must be 1. This catches most typing mistakes. The tool tests that and the length for the country.

How long is a Turkish IBAN?

26 characters: TR, two check digits, a five-digit bank code, one reserved digit and a 16-digit account number.

Does a valid result mean the account exists?

No. The tool only checks the format and the checksum. It cannot tell whether the account is open or who owns it. Before sending money, confirm the recipient on your bank's own screen.

Is the bank name always shown?

No. The list covers common banks and an unrecognised bank code is shown as a code only. Banks merge and codes can change, so do not treat the name as authoritative.

    Is my IBAN sent anywhere?

No. The check runs in your browser and the IBAN is neither uploaded nor stored.
