Turkish ID number (TC Kimlik No) validator

Type the number to see at once whether its format is valid and which rule fails. Your number never leaves this computer.

Type the 11-digit number. Spaces and dashes are ignored.

This tool only checks the format of the number (length and check digits). It cannot tell you whether the number belongs to a real person. Only the official identity verification service knows that.

    How to use it

    1. Type the TC Kimlik No in the box. Spaces and dashes are ignored.
    2. The result updates as you type: the format is valid or invalid.
    3. If it is invalid, the list below shows which rule fails (length, first digit, digit 10, digit 11) and the digit that was expected.

    Frequently asked questions

How is a Turkish ID number validated?

The number must have 11 digits and must not start with 0. Digit 10 is the remainder, mod 10, of seven times the sum of digits 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 minus the sum of digits 2, 4, 6 and 8. Digit 11 is the last digit of the sum of the first 10 digits. The tool tests these rules in order.

Does a valid result mean the number is real?

No. This tool only checks the format. A number that follows the rules may not belong to anyone. Only the official identity verification service can tell you whether a number is registered.

Is the number I type sent anywhere?

No. The check runs in your browser and the number is neither uploaded nor stored.

What can I use this for?

It is handy when you build a form or software and want to test whether an input has a typo, or to see whether a number you copied by hand was typed correctly.
